Sheikh Zayed Award .. Syria’s novel in the long list of children’s literature

The Sheikh Zayed Book Award, in its 13th session, was announced by the long list of children’s literature and included ten Arab works.

The list, which was published on the official website today, Wednesday, November 14, included a Syrian novel entitled “I am not You” by its author, Jaker Khurshid, issued in 2018.

The Kuwaiti poet and poet Jakeer Khurshid won the Cultural Books Award for the Gulf Office in 2018 for the story of Doha Al Asafir. He also received the Sharjah Prize for Arab Creativity for the story of Awe and Alith.

His novel, “I Am Not You,” competes with nine other novels from six Arab countries, specializing in children’s literature, to produce a short list in the coming weeks.

The Sheikh Zayed Award is one of the most prestigious literary awards in the Arab world, with a total value of AED 7 million, equivalent to US $ 1.9 million. </ h3>
The winner in each category will receive AED 750,000 (about $ 204,000), a gold medal bearing the award’s logo and a certificate of appreciation.

The prizes are awarded in nine categories: young author, literature, arts and critical studies, children’s literature and youth, translation, Arabic culture in other languages, publishing and cultural techniques, development and state building,

The presence of the Syrians is evident in the Sheikh Zayed Award every year. The novel “Test of remorse” by Syrian writer Khalil Sweileh won the prize for the category of literature at the 12th session in 2017.

The General Secretariat of the Award began to announce the opening of the candidacy for its awards for 2018, last August, while the long lists were announced only in the category of “children’s literature”, the rest of the lists to be issued successively.
